The Lindsay Memorial Initiative (LMI) is an unpaid, volunteer-supported project organized to catalog, digitize and preserve the works of Dr. Homer G. Lindsay Jr. and make them freely available to all through the power of the Internet.

2

Who is Dr. Homer G. Lindsay, Jr.?

Homer Gentry Lindsay, Jr. was pastor of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, Florida from 1972 through 2000. Following in the footsteps of his father, Homer Sr., who had pastored the congregation since 1940, Dr. Lindsay's God-sized vision and leadership were instrumental in the growth of First Baptist into one of the largest churches in America in the 1980s and 1990s, with more than 28,000 members. Known for his signature transparent, yet humble and down-to-earth style, Dr. Lindsay's weekly messages also reached thousands each day through regional radio and television broadcasts. For more information please see About Dr. Lindsay.

3

Is the Lindsay Memorial Initiative affiliated with First Baptist Church of Jacksonville?

Although First Baptist Church has generously made available the library of Dr. Lindsay's works to the Lindsay Memorial Initiative, LMI itself is comprised completely of unpaid volunteers unaffiliated with FBC. Every LMI volunteer recognizes the importance of Dr. Lindsay's ministry and seeks to preserve its rich heritage. Many of the LMI volunteers are current and former FBC members and staff.

4

Who owns Dr. Lindsay's works?

Dr. Lindsay's sermons and books are the property of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville. The church has generously made his works available to LMI and to the world for the enrichment of others.

5

Will LMI also make the works of Dr. Lindsay, Sr. available?

LMI seeks to also preserve the works of Dr. Homer Lindsay, Sr., and we will make those available as time and funding permit.

6

How long will it take to make Dr. Lindsay's messages available?

The archives of Dr. Lindsay's sermons consist of many hundreds of tapes in various formats that must be organized and digitally preserved. Many physical items are quite old and must be handled carefully. As a result, the process of converting the recordings into digital files requires a good deal of time and precision. As the Initiative is comprised entirely of unpaid volunteers, your generous gifts of time and funding will increase the rate at which this work can be accomplished. We'll be able to offer better estimates and project roadmaps as more volunteers get involved. Please visit Get Involved if you are interested in participating.

7

Will Dr. Lindsay's written works be made available?

Our desire is to digitize books, booklets, training materials, and other written works authored by Dr. Lindsay and make them available as time and funding allow.

8

Will recordings be made available for sale?

No, all of Dr. Lindsay's digital works will be made freely available.

9

Will recordings be downloadable?

Yes, the intention of LMI is to build the infrastructure needed to stream all digitized recordings of Dr. Lindsay's works on demand and make complete media files available for download.

10

Will access to Dr. Lindsay's sermons require a membership?

Although LMI may offer membership options in the future, membership will never be required to access any of Dr. Lindsay's digital content.

11

How and where will Dr. Lindsay's sermons be made available?

The Initiative is still exploring the best options for making Dr. Lindsay's content available through a fully-searchable, Web-based streaming media platform. Please visit our Website often for updates. If you have expertise in streaming media and content delivery networks, we encourage you to Get Involved!

12

In what languages are Dr. Lindsay's messages available?

Currently, message recordings are available only in English, but we welcome volunteers who can help us translate content into other languages and and make it freely accessible to everyone.

13

Will copies of physical tapes or CDs be made available?

Unfortunately, the cost and physical space required to duplicate media makes its distribution impractical in our current day. Instead, our mission is to preserve the content that was originally recorded on tape by converting it to digital media files that will be freely accessible on the Internet.

"In every decision you make, keep your eye on your goal. But also, keep your eye on Jesus and keep your eye on heaven. I'll tell you, if you do, the hand of God will be upon you all the days of your life. And God will do marvelous things in and through you. That which you could never, ever have accomplished in your own strength. But in the strength of Almighty God, anything, and everything, is possible."
